ABOUT DEANNE
Deanne M Skivington, MSOM, L. Ac earned her Master of Science in Oriental Medicine by completing her education and clinical training at Tri-State College of Acupuncture, located in N.Y.C. She is currently a Licensed Acupuncturist in the state of New York.
Deanne’s acupuncture practice is unique because of her extensive training in multiple styles of acupuncture. Typically, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is the most common style of acupuncture practiced today. Deanne, however, is proficient in not only TCM but also Acupuncture Physical Medicine (APM).
In addition to practicing Traditional Chinese Medicine, Deanne specializes in Sports Medicine Acupuncture (APM), specifically trigger point dry needling. This style of acupuncture is unique to athletes as it helps to eliminate pain, improve movement and flexibility, and optimize muscle strength. Deanne will assess each patient through palpation of the body, specifically looking for myofascial constrictions, or “holding patterns” unique to each individual. Deanne’s diverse background enables her to choose the most appropriate acupuncture style, or even a combination of styles, when developing the treatment plans for the individual needs of patients. In addition to Acupuncture, other modalities of treatment include cupping, E-Stim (or TENS), Gua Sha, Tui Na, and zero balancing. Deanne’s options are numerous, thus maximizing the benefits for her patients.
As you strive to achieve and maintain your optimal health, YOU WILL FEEL GREAT as you experience first hand the many amazing benefits of acupuncture.
